Know what you're using

Venice is private, uncensored AI that you own. This is what that means, and the few things worth understanding before you go deep.

What Venice stands for

The principles

Most AI tools sit between you and the model, logging what you ask and deciding what you're allowed to make. Venice is built the other way around: your prompts and creations are yours, the defaults protect you, and access doesn't depend on anyone's permission.

Privacy isn't a feature here. It's the foundation everything else is built on.

Private by default

Conversations and creations aren't mined, sold, or used to train against you.

Self-sovereign

Permissionless access and tokens you hold, not an account someone can revoke on a whim.

Uncensored, responsibly

Fewer arbitrary walls, paired with clear, non-negotiable rules around consent.

How the privacy actually works

In plain language

You don't need the engineering to trust it, but the shape is simple. Venice minimizes what's stored, processes requests in protected environments, and encrypts what travels between you and the model. Three ideas worth knowing by name:

Zero data retention means your prompts aren't kept around after the work is done. Trusted execution means inference runs in a sealed environment even the operator can't peer into. End-to-end encryption means the conversation is protected in transit. The deep technical version lives in the docs; here we just want you to know it's real.

Venice 101: start here

The three things worth learning first

Three things unlock almost everything else on Venice. Get these down and the rest falls into place.

1

Credits

What costs what, and why video burns more than images, which burn more than text. Draft cheap, finalize the keeper at full quality.

2

Choosing a model

There's no single "best." There's a best-for-this-job. We sort models by what you're trying to make, not by leaderboard.

3

Prompting

Good results come from describing what you want concretely. A few patterns carry most of the weight across every model.

Quick answers

The questions everyone asks first

How do I pay for Venice?

A simple subscription with bundled credits, or stake tokens for permissionless access that mints a daily allowance of inference credit. Either way, you're not handing over your identity to use it.

Is it really private if it runs in the cloud?

Yes. That's the point of zero retention and trusted execution. The work happens in a sealed environment and isn't kept afterward. The docs cover the architecture in full.

What can't I make?

The hard line is consent: explicit, informed consent for any real person, and never anything involving minors. Beyond that, Venice is deliberately permissive.

Why did my credits drop so fast?

You probably generated video or high-res images, which cost more than text. The credits guide shows how to draft cheaply and only spend big on the final.

Understand it once, and it stops being magic.

The more you know what Venice is, the more you trust what you make with it.
